Abaca Announces Appointment of Leo Jolicoeur as CEO

New Chief Executive Has Proven Leadership Experience in Delivering Innovative Technologies, Driving Sales Growth

SAN JOSE, CALIF., DEC. 4, 2007 - Abaca Technology Corporation, an innovator in email protection and messaging security, announced today that Leo Jolicoeur has been appointed chief executive officer. Jolicoeur succeeds Abaca founder and chairman of the board Steve Kirsch.

Jolicoeur joined Abaca's board of directors in Q3 of 2007 and has also served as an executive consultant for the company. Prior to joining Abaca, Jolicoeur was executive vice president, chief sales and marketing officer at @Road. Under his direction, the company achieved record growth driving the corporate revenue to over $100 million per year and successfully developed a new market category for mobile resource management (MRM) solutions. This positioning paved the way for Trimble's acquisition of @Road.

Jolicoeur previously served as vice president, product marketing and service operations at WebEx Communications, where he helped to drive service revenue growth from $10 million per year to over $150 million per year. He was also vice president of online services at Infoseek, another company founded by Kirsch. Infoseek was acquired by The Walt Disney Company in 1999.

"I am thrilled to hand over the company reins to a trusted colleague with such an outstanding record of executive leadership," said Steve Kirsch, founder and chairman of the board of Abaca Technology Corporation. "Leo has proven time and again that he can deliver innovative technologies, open new markets, and drive record sales growth. I am confident he will position Abaca for success as we move the company forward."

Jolicoeur expressed similar confidence in Kirsch's vision of Abaca as an email security innovator and potential industry leader, noting that Kirsch has already founded four successful technology companies-including Infoseek, Propel Software, Frame Technology and Mouse Systems-over a 27-year Silicon Valley career.

"Under Steve's leadership, Abaca has developed an innovative email protection solution that guarantees 99 percent accuracy in blocking spam," said Leo Jolicoeur, chief executive officer of Abaca Technology Corporation. "No other company offers anything like it. Abaca's breakthrough technology is now poised to revolutionize the entire email security industry, and I am honored to be leading the company at this very exciting time."

Jolicoeur began his high-technology career at Apple Computer and Digital Equipment Corporation, where he held a variety of product marketing and business management positions. A native of Boston, he holds a B.S. degree in computer science and finance from Boston College.
